Playmobil Neonatologist

playmobilneonatologist

Doctor and nurse toys are a dime a dozen. But what’s a kid to do if they decide to specialize? I present the Playmobil Neonatologist. Playmobil calls it a baby doctor with an incubator, but I have had three premies and it is really a neonatologist with an isolette. I love that the picture has them outside as if the neonatologist is taking the baby, who is either so small or so sick that she has to be in an isolette, for a walk around the block. I suppose a more realistic scenario is that the doc is transferring the babe from a level 3 NICU to a level 2 nursery closer to home and they posed for a quick picture before getting in the ambulance. Although really it would be a nurse and an EMT, not the MD doing that. They lose some realistic points on the baby, who is enormous and wide awake and not looking like she needs the isolette much.

Now, I can’t wait to see the dermatologist set, oh and the little anesthesiologist!

Man, I’m old. I remember when it was just red or white Legos with 2, 4, 6 or 8 little knobby thingies on top. :p

Can you get extra isolettes? I’m just wondering what you do if you have octuplets.

I really enjoy reading your reviews and the humor you bring to them. I’m with you on losing points for the baby, though. A baby with a full head of hair likely wouldn’t be in the isolette!

HA! I just took my 3 yr old son to a toy store yesterday as he is slightly obsessed w/Playmobil stuff. He looks at their catalog for entertainment. Loves going to their web site and checking all the stuff out. Told him he could pick out something small, under $7, and of ALL the things in the store THIS is what he picked: the baby incubator. He has not put it down since! This is a kid who otherwise loves trucks, fireman stuff and construction stuff. And now the incubator (?!). Perhaps he has a career as a neo-natologist or nurse? Hilarious to find this posting online today of all days.

Oh– as a side note, on the back of the vest of the woman figurine it says “Rescue Worker” (?) so not sure what the scenario is supposed to be here. Her little case has a picture of scissors, bandage tape, a syringe and some pills or something inside w/the medical insignia on the outside.
