A week ago we reported on the plan to remake the Toy Room in Toy Room Purge – Introduction. Well, now we’ve started and much like any addict, the Toy Room is in serious denial that it has a problem.
Case in point, Mommy (aka MrsToyReporter) spent a few hours in there a few nights ago starting to pack up toys and throwing out the stuff that had no chance of making the cut in the “New and Improved Toy Room”. There was a full paper bag of junk,
and three good sized boxes of stuff packed away.
Then a few days later I spent an hour completely cleaning up the rest, putting toys back in their places, throwing out old scraps of cut up construction paper, etc. The room was tidy. It wasn’t spotless, but it was fairly clean.
What’s that? You’d like to see a picture of the Toy Room clean? Ummmmm. Well. Yeah, so would I. I fully intended to snap a picture of the clean Toy Room after I was done, but then in the midst of scrubbing paint off The Art Table the boys had a friend over for the afternoon, then some other friends came over that evening with their kids and next thing we know…
The Toy Room looks like it’s been hit by a hurricane. It was so bad that I didn’t even want to turn the light on in there, so the above picture is somewhat out of focus, taken in the dark with the flash. Did the kids have fun playing in there with all their friends for hours and hours? Certainly. WIll it be a nightmare to clean up? Certainly.
Well, that was it. The Toy Room was officially in denial about it’s problems and it was time to do something serious about it.
Next week, Toy Room Purge – Stage 2 – Intervention.
